A Spring and Summer to remember...

I Have been out of blog land for awhile and decide just to skip over the excuses as to why. I am back and will try to update as much as possible, especilly since Mike and I just purchased a new laptop.

The craziness began in January when I went back to work and the girls went into daycare. With me making money again moving into a new house quickly went on the radar. Luckily enough, I was talking to people at work and one of the gals there is a licensed real estate agent. We got a stagger to come in and after some cosmetic changes (paint, furniture removal, etc) we had the house on the market early April. We accepted an offer in June and closed on July 13th. It is hard keeping the house clean all the time since you never know when you are going to get a showing. The girls also "lost" their bedroom. We moved their bunk beds out, changed the wall color to neutral and took out the toys. Most of the toys in the whole house, including the basement, were put into storage. Luckily the weather was nice so a lot of time was spent outside. When we sold we still had not found a house, so we packed 99% of our belongings into storage and moved in with my in laws. About a month later we decided to build. Here we are in mid-October and still at the in laws. The house should be ready before Christmas!

The girls haven't reacted poorly to this new arrangement. Sometimes they act out wondering why we don't have a house, but soon is forgotten when Grandma is there! The nice thing about living here is that they have a pool and the girls love to swim. Emma is getting really good at front crawl and has learned butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke. Ellie came a really long way from where she was last year. What helped her is the fact that she could touch in the shallow end. Ellie loves to be a mermaid. She still cannot swim that far, but if she is going down she'll often say "Mommy, I'm going down" before she actually gets all the way under water! The girls play mermaid with me and monster with Daddy in the water! By the end of the summer I was helping the girls in the deep end dive for rings on the bottom.

We did not get on the boat that much this summer. The day we took the boat out of the water we went tubing. Emma really likes and and will go by herself. Ellie eventually went with me after some coaxing. The girls really loved playing in the lake. The day we went out we had the lake to ourselves which was nice. A lot of our days were filled with swimming, biking or the park. The girls also went to their first Wild Game and saw 2 Twins games. Superman was still a favorite to watch in the spring. In the summer the girls discovered The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian.

By far the favorite things was our trip to Florida in August. We parked the van downtown and took the light rail to the airport, which the girls really liked. They also liked the moving sidewalk at the airport. Ellie did not want to walk on the moving sidewalk so it took longer than actual walking to get through the terminal. As we were taking off, I wish I would have had the video going because Ellie's reaction was priceless! She sat in her seat and said, really loud, "weee, I feel like I am flying"! The whole plane started laughing! We started our trip at Disney and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. It was a really nice hotel, but the nicest part was the fact that you could take a ferry to the Magic Kingdom. On our first day at the park, we went to the Princess Breakfast. It was probably the funnest thing for the girls. They got to see all the Princesses and get their picture taken with them. The Jungle Cruise was the favorite of the girls. Ellie was a little scared in Pirates of the Caribbean because it was pretty dark. We spent 2 days at the Magic Kingdom and 1 day at the Animal Kingdom. We took a Safari at the Animal Kingdom and actually got a glimpse of a male lion sitting on a rock. The Animal Kingdom was nice, but would not go back. After Disney we drove down to Naples for a wedding. Mike's cousin Jeff got married and the girls were flower girls in the wedding. Mike was excited to show the girls the ocean, but the girls liked the pool at the hotel better. In Naples the girls got to see their cousin Danika for the 2nd time. They had a lot of fun with her. The wedding was beautiful and the girls did a great job. They stood with the bridal party for the whole ceremony! They also liked dancing at the reception.

That takes us up to September. Emma started a pre-k room at her daycare. One of Ellie's best friends from daycare came back after taking the summer off so Ellie was happy. They also started Dance and gymnastics (both through community ed). Surprisingly Emma likes the dance better than Ellie.

I will try to post weekly or once every two weeks :)
